Exploring the Architecture

Ravenhill Chapel stands as one of the most visually stunning structures on Jefferson University’s East Falls campus. The chapel’s unique blend of traditional elements and artistic craftsmanship creates an ambiance that is both sacred and inspiring.

Tracing the Facade

By importing pictures of the space into AutoDesk AutoCAD, we started by tracing the elevations of the south wall to scale and then laser cutting its pieces.

Acrylic Tank

The three round windows were laser cut into sheets of acrylic and bonded into a fish tank to mimic the architectural elements.

Ink Drops

We experimented by dropping various ratios of ink, paint, and dye to interact with the three modeled window elements. We then recorded our experiments on video capturing the dynamic interplay of ink and architecture.

Digital Projection Mapping

Digital projection mapping uses calibrated projectors to transform spaces into dynamic displays, seamlessly blending real and virtual worlds. With specialized software MadMapper our digital content was perfectly aligned with the architecture of the chapel.
